The State government recently announced that the screening of the controversial film Dam 999 was banned in the State. The government took the decision since it was felt that the film would create fear among the people regarding the controversial Mullaiperiyar dam.
The film had scenes where the structure was shown as weak and was in danger of crumbling at any moment.
Roy had moved the apex court against the ban and said it was a blow on creative freedom. The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Tamilnadu government to give an opportunity and hear film producer-director Sohan Roy.
As per the apex court's directive, the director chose to meet State Home Secrtary today and offer his explanation for the movie's content.
He reached Chennai today and is said to be staying at a hotel in Egmore amidst tight security.
At 10.35 am, Roy along with his battery of advocates reached the Secretariat and called on Home Secretary Rameshram Mishra. He was reportedly closetted with him for over an hour.
He is said to have sought the government's nod to get the ban lifted and explained in detail about the movie's content.
