Grandmaster
S P Sethuraman defeated Ashwin Jairam yetserday to remain on top after
the fourth round at the 49th National Premier Chess Championship being
played here in central Maharashtra.
Sethuraman has bagged four points, while grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta, the former world junior champion, defeated Videet Gujarathi to stand at second place with 3.5 points. |

Tuesday, top seed grandmaster Parimaarjan Negi was defeated by Akhit
Jayram. Grandmaster Praveen Thipsay also faced defeat at the hands of
Gujarathi.
Forty-nine players, including 18 Grandmasters and 21 International Masters, are competing in the 13-round Swiss event organised by Marathwada Chess Association. |
