Shining bright with sun

With a recent report predicting that installed capacity of solar power in India will be at 33.4GW by the year 2022, companies in the energy and allied business are on an expansion mode, hoping to make big fortunes in the years to come.
REFUsol GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of solar inverters, has recruited staff members for its new office in Pune and received approval from Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) for financing inverter projects in India.

In order to establish its presence in India and support local customers onsite, REFUsol opened dedicated local offices in Hyderabad and New Delhi in addition to the Mumbai office. The sales representatives together with additional engineers will provide customer support, engineering, commissioning and after-sales-service for installation of solar inverters.
The company will also open further manufacturing facilities and grow its head count over the course of the next months, stressing its commitment to the Indian market, if a press release is to be believed. The manufactury opening will be in Pune. Although REFUsol already delivers into the Indian market, local production will commence this year, with deliveries from the Indian facilities planned for early 2012.
Luminous Power Technologies, a leading power back-up solution provider in India, organised the its 'biggest' South India Channel Partners meet with over 180 at Ooty, Tamilnadu. The event was specially organised to encourage and felicitate the channel partners in the southern Market.
Manish Pant, managing Ddrector, Luminous Power Technologies, said, 'South India is our next bastion and we need to grow significantly in this region which holds lot of potential for Luminous. We have invested in South India with creation of seven new service centres, increasing our sales team and strengthening our partner network  We will adapt to the local market needs of the four States by launching products tailored to this market and build on the strong Luminous brand equity.’
Meanwhile, C&S Electric has successfully synchronised its first 1 MWp  solar PV power plant in Bhiwani District of Haryana and commenced export of power to the grid from the same date thereby becoming the second PV Power Plant on all India basis to be successfully synchronised with the grid under MNRE RPSSGP programme of JNNSM.
According to a press note, this is the first ever 1 MWp rating Grid- Connected PV Power plant in Haryana.
The annual power generation expected from this power plant is around 1.5 Million to 1.6 Million KWh and around 1400 to 1500 tons of Green House Gas Emission saving will accrue in a year.
India Solar Handbook, a recent publication by Bride To India (New Delhi), has predicted that installed capacity of solar power in India will be at 33.4GW by the year 2022.
This projection includes grid as well as off-grid market potential. Bridge To India analysis projects that the solar targets for India will be well overshot by 2022.
The Indian National Solar Mission (NSM) that targets to achieve 20GW of installed capacity by 2022 is only one part of the Indian solar story. According to the report, a huge part of the market is the unexplored off-grid opportunity in India.
