Diptayan in joint lead








India's Diptayan Ghosh settled for a draw with Bluebaum Matthias of Germany to maintain his joint lead after in the sixth round in the Open section of Under-14 category in the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship here.
After the drawn result, Diptayan shared the joint lead with Matthias on five points.

In the Girls Under-8 category, India's Bommini Mounika Akshaya, who had the joint lead after fifth round matches, suffered her first defeat in the championship at the hands of top seed Tran Vuong Mai Khanh of Vietnam.
She is now at joint second spot with five points.
Nine other Indians, including national junior champion Aravindh Chithambaram and Karthikeyan Murali are tied at the top of the point table in Under-12 Open category with five points.
Chithambaram got the better off compatriot Abhimanyu Puranik while Karthikeyan held Hungarian Fide Master Gledura Benjamin in the sixth round encounters.
After a setback in the previous round, Nandhidhaa PV came back strongly to beat Guimaraes Artemis Pamela of Brazil in the sixth round and she now tied for the second spot in Girls Under-16 category.
In the Girls Under-14 category, the match between two Indians Monnisha and Srija Seshadri ended in a draw and both players are now at second spot in the table with five points.
Three more rounds remain in this nine-round Swiss system championship.
